I have been a member of the Federal Way/Northeast Tacoma community for 12 years and a frequent user of parks, sports facilities and open space. One of my favorite pastimes is running or cycling on the BPA Trail in Federal Way. The trail’s greatest asset is that it offers a safe place to run or ride without the hassle of automobile traffic (except for a few street crossings).

During the trail’s existence, I have noticed a steady decline in maintenance, to the point now where it is often overcome by weeds, graffiti and pet droppings.

I would like to strongly urge the city of Federal Way to look into this growing problem before one of Federal Way’s true attractions becomes a neighborhood eyesore.
