Letters to the Editor

Pops concert provided exceptional music

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Federal Way Symphony, we would like to thank the community for the wonderful response to our first annual Symphonic Pops Concert last weekend at Dumas Bay Center.

The symphony worked hard to bring an event of this scope to our city, and we have had nothing but compliments from our sell-out crowd for our efforts. We could have not asked for a more perfect evening to show off our orchestra and our guest soloist against a setting sun overlooking the Olympics and Puget Sound in one of our most beautiful parks.

We would like to thank not only our behind-the-scenes staff, but also our sponsors, including Lexus of Tacoma at Fife, the city of Federal Way Lodging Tax Committee, King County Department of Community Development, the Federal Way Noon Rotary Club and Merrill Lynch, as well as Metropolitan King County Councilman Peter von Reichbauer.

Special credit goes to our own Metropolitan Market for providing the wonderful food, and to the great staff members at Dumas who helped us pull this off.

Together with members of the local business community, we were able to bring an exceptional evening of music to the citizens of Federal Way.

We are already in the planning stages for another concert next August with the hopes that it will be an even bigger success. Please stay tuned!

KATHY FRANKLIN and LIZ JOHNSON

Co-presidents, Federal Way Symphony
