Future population makes Kilworth a good purchase

Further careful thought on the city of Federal Way purchasing Camp Kilworth was advised by Ron Gintz in the Mirror June 29 (Opinion, “Let’s think this out before our city rushes into buying Camp Kilworth”). At this moment, and perhaps for another two years, it would be good economics not to buy this.

However, in less than five to 10 years, the population of Federal Way will have increased substantially.

Dash Point State Park is overutilized except during winter, which Mr. Gintz does not address. It is the only saltwater beach and park in Federal Way. He also did not support his opposition to purchasing Camp Kilworth by appearing before the City Council, and had someone else read his letter (the same he sent to the Mirror). We, who believe in preserving this property for the citizens of Federal Way, were there.
