'Appalled' by calendar models

Last week my sister, Dyan Dyer Lowery of Lake Forest Park, died of cancer. She was in her 50s and had a lot of life to look forward to that got taken away by this horrible disease.

When I saw the news article about the women who posed nude to raise funds for cancer research (Dec. 18, “They took it off for a good cause”), I was appalled. How low can people sink so low to think that any behavior is justified by the means?

Take the situation where people have stolen property or sold drugs to pay medical bills of family members. It’s still wrong and they should be prosecuted, regardless of their motivation.

The example that these women have set for our youth is a new moral low. From the newspaper photo, several of the calendar girls appear to be the age of what has become known as the “Greatest Generation.” These pillars of society have definitely not done anything great by doing this “good work.”
