More interesting than reality TV

I attended my first Federal Way School Board meeting Nov. 9 (trying to increase my old active parent involvement) and was fascinated to learn what’s happening with Federal Way’s public schools.

For instance, our new middle school will have a math/science focus and serve 375 students.

Then there is a group forming in Federal Way called the Decency Committee. Oh, excuse me, thay are now the Citizens for Student Learning. And they would like to help the School Board with policies regarding morality in our schools. They were having a meeting Nov. 19. Sorry, you couldn’t attend if you’re not a member. It is a private organization. They have been having trouble with citizens expressing hostility toward their agenda.

This meeting was more interesting than reality TV. I can’t wait for the next one.
