Hoff follows his own agenda
June 13, 2008 · Updated 4:40 PM
Once again, Federal Way School Board member Charlie Hoff has pulled the wool over some poor parents eyes.
After reading Larry Patersons letter to the Mirror (Sept. 25, Time for the rest of board to get along with Hoff). I have to laugh.First off, Larry, where do you get your numbers? You stated there were in fact several students who did not possess the skills to be viable members of society. Really? I must have been absent the day you were deemed the judge of who is viable.
Your statements are nothing more than what a growing number of parents refer to as Hoffism.
In fact, Charlie Hoff could care less about my student or yours. Try disagreeing with him and see what happens.
I supported Charlies re-election, hosted a coffee in my home at the request of his re-election committee. Then last school year, Charlies supporters went after principal Judy Kraft of the Federal Way Public Academy. They launched a campaign of terror against her that was unbelievable. When other parents, including myself, went to Charlie for help in understanding, he could no longer hear or see us. He completely ignored the request of several parents to get his cronies to stop. After I made a formal complaint against him in executive session with the School Board, board member Ed Barney investigated and found there was enough evidence to implement new guidelines to control board member interference with staff.
So here we are, bogged down in what has, in my opinion, become one persons attempt to eliminate students who dont meet his standards. At the Sept. 14 board meeting, board member Evelyn Castellar made the statement, This man (Charlie) is a gem. We should celebrate him. Lets see, he wont put his own agenda aside for a graduation ceremony to celebrate our students, but we should celebrate him? Ha.
Charlie is nothing more than gloom and doom, statistics and numbers. By the way, anyone ever actually check his numbers? How many charter schools actually succeed?
This school district has students that excel in many areas. Do you need a college diploma to be successful? What about Bill Gates, and the countless other success stories of people that made it? The truth is, even the brightest, fast-tracked students fail, while the class clown could go on to become someone we all respect and love.
We need graduates of all skills, Larry. Ever need a plumber? Someone to change your oil? So dont be so quick to judge who is worthy.
It is time to send Charlie Hoff back where he came from. I will personally volunteer to buy him a ticket, pack his bag and put him on the first flight to La La Land, where he belongs.
If and when he becomes School Board president, we will lose many of the district staff. He has already tried to ruin the career of principal Kraft. Dont believe me? Ask principal Kraft about the threats he unloaded on her.
Charlie Hoff needs to go and take Evelyn Castellar with him.
