Commitment to higher education

As a student myself, I am concerned by the number of my peers who are choosing not to pursue education further than high school, and the even fewer number who are choosing to pursue a bachelor’s degree.

I believe that presidential candidate John Kerry’s plans regarding education are extremely positive and will help our country to build a better future. Currently, only 29 percent of all Americans in their late 20s have a bachelor’s degree, and the majority of these are not in the sciences. Sen. Kerry plans to double National Science Foundation scholarships, as well as provide $3 million in grants to encourage girls and minorities to study the sciences. He also will modernize financial aid, making it easier for all students to attend university.

With this commitment to higher education, Sen. John Kerry has earned my vote in the upcoming election.
