About Goodwill's low donations

Interesting that Goodwill is hurting for donations these days (July 31 news article, “Goodwill programs hurting for donations”). Since their upgrade to a more department-store feel, they have twice refused my donations because they were no longer “the image we are promoting.” I have had friends make this same comment, and I and they take our same donations elsewhere.

Maybe the lower donation rate is just a shift in where the donations are being dropped off. If Goodwill won’t take them, why try? Retail sales have actually been on the rise for a while.
