Electronic voting a possible disaster

The November presidential election is looming, and unless we want to undergo another nation-rending brouhaha, we have a huge problem we must get fixed before that election.

It is the total electronic vote. Absolutely no way to check a vote regardless of the potential need. Our only recourse will be the Supreme Court justices.

At this minute, there are bills before both the U.S. Senate and the House to mandate a paper trail. Both are being held up in committee.

Please, immediately e-mail Washington’s senators and your congressman to expedite passage of those bills. We simply must have the ability to correct voting errors.

Our senators’ and congressman’s e-mail addresses follow:

• Sen. Patty Murray: www.murray.senate.gov

• Sen. Maria Cantwell: www.cantwell.senate.gov

• Rep. Adam Smith: www.house.gov/adamsmith

It is imperative you act as soon as possible, regardless of your persuasions. The result of a paperless vote can only be a disaster.
