Thanks, firefighters

A few weekends ago, firefighters in King County gave their time and energy to collect contributions to assist families that are affected by muscular dystrophy. This year’s campaign was a tremendous success, raising $119,000.

I can’t begin to thank all the fantastic people who made this success possible in this limited space. To name a few, Glaceau Vitamin Water supplied all the water for the weekend, and Pizza Hut fed the firefighters.

I must admit a special attachment to the firefighters. I work for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and joined firefighters in the Fill the Boot campaigns. Because of this, I have a face to put with the guys speeding by on their engines. When I see them or hear a siren, I think to myself, “There go my firefighters — please keep them safe.” I encourage everyone to “put a face” on your local firefighters by letting them know how much you appreciate that they are there every day — heroes ready to serve.
