Entertainment tax will hurt

Re: city of Federal Way’s entertainment tax. I question the best interest of the people of Federal Way, and especially the movie theater business.

As everyone is aware, the theater business has been on the decline in this area for some time now, and adding an increase to the entertainment tax would surely not help a bad situation that already exists. Would it not be better to increase our tax base by one or two-hundredths of 1 percent than to create a negative situation for the theater business?

If these funds are for the Kenneth Jones pool and two additional police officers, then let everyone pay for it, not a select few who take in a movie once a week or so.

I would guess that in order to increase Federal Way’s tax base, it would require a vote of the people that probably would not pass.
