Freedom High more accurate

It seems to me that School Board president Earl VanDorien Jr. is not after making the right decision but is liking the media attention that it has created.
You will read that Mr. VanDorien is in the Rainier View service area, but he has no children in Federal Way Public Schools. I have talked to students who will be attending our new high school, and the majority think it is wrong to name it after one hero from that awful day. If we insist on doing so, why not after a firefighter who entered the trade centers not once but twice to save people and, after entering the third time, was killed himself?
My suggestion is Freedom High, in honor of all our heroes who perished on Sept 11, 2001. We can be called the Patriots, and Lets roll can be our motto. This does not follow school policy in naming one person, but then who is following any procedures here, anyway?
This is no time to abstain from voting, board member Hoff, because of serious reservations, but now is the time to do what our heroes have done: stand up for what is right.
