I am joining the King County Heart Walk on Sept. 14 at Safeco Field to help raise money for the American Heart Association.

My niece, Shelby, was born with a hole in her heart and needed surgery when she was only 2 years old to correct it. This year, she is 6 years old and living the normal life of a very active child. This would not have been possible without the exceptional research and technology done by the American Heart Association. Our donations are what makes this possible.

It is a fact that these vicious diseases touch all of us. Heart disease and stroke remain the top killers in South King County. Another fact is that one out of every two Americans will eventually die from heart diseases, and millions more will be affected by stroke.

Please help. You can send your donation to me at 2704 I St. NE., Auburn, WA 98002 (checks should be made payable to the American Heart Association).
