Someone to slow spending

We were quite pleased when Jim Ferrell announced his candidacy for state representative for the 30th District (essentially the Federal Way area). His decision to run for the office results from his concern about the constant increase in the size of state government, excessive regulations on small business, the growing traffic problems and taxes that caused Boeing and a few other large businesses to relocate.

We share Jim’s concerns. Unfortunately, under a Democrat governor and with the Demos in control of both houses in Olympia, we’ve seen no improvement in these problems. In fact, we saw the state budget deficit grow to about $1.5 billion. Now taxpayers face a 9-cent increase in gas taxes and new or increased fees on nearly everything we do.

We need Jim Ferrell to tighten up on this runaway spending in Olympia and to help fix the other problems. Besides, with Jim’s experience as a King County deputy prosecutor, we can get needed attention to legislation that would better protect everyday citizens.
