Kudos to Ferrell becoming a Democrat | Letters

I read with interest that Federal Way City Councilman Jim Ferrell has followed his conscience and switched parties.

It’s no secret that I have been a Ferrell supporter for a number of years. Leaning left of center myself, I have said more than once that I supported Ferrell despite the “R” that followed his name. This was because I knew that, unlike the typical politician, his priority was the people rather than the party. Reading his opinion piece, I can see that he feels he can better serve the people from the Democratic side.

Jim has my support more than ever. I hope the rest of those who have known and respected him feel the same.

And I must say “well done” to columnist Bob Roegner, who offered a thoughtful summary of the local political landscape, given Ferrell’s decision.
