Sound Transit shortchanges Federal Way | Letters

I just read Andy Hobbs' article “No light rail in sight despite Federal Way’s payment.”

The bottom line is we paid into this system with the “expectation” that we would get light rail and now we are getting “shortchanged” by Sound Transit because they have no plans to extend light rail to Federal Way and that just is “totally unacceptable.”

That is equivalent to saying “thanks for your money, we’ll think about it (building the line to your area) and get back to you sometime next century.” Hello? They obviously need a “wake-up call” because that is not what we agreed to. The line needs to be built to at least as far south as 272nd Street at a minimum — no ifs, ands or buts about it.

Don’t give us “excuses." Give us results. There is no excuse that the rich residents of Bellevue can get what they want while Federal Way gets the shaft. Kudos to city spokesman Chris Carrel and Mayor Skip Priest for sticking to their guns.  Sound Transit must be held accountable.

Gary Robertson, Federal Way
