Letters to the Editor

Federal Way is a business-friendly city | Letters

As someone who is often quick to criticize government, I want to also be quick to acknowledge success. I arrived at my Federal Way office Thursday morning to find access to my building completely blocked by a road projected related to the school district’s new bus garage.

Without notice, my clients and I were forced to park down the road. While the exercise was good and the weather enjoyable, a blocked road is a major inconvenience. Hours later with our building still blocked with orange cones, I emailed Mayor Skip Priest with my frustration, explaining that this was further evidence that the city is not business friendly. Within 20 minutes, public works director Cary Roe was at my office, along with a handful of people involved with the project to investigate my complaint. While the city was not to blame, they made no excuses, apologized for the inconvenience and worked with the construction crew to ensure we would have no further (unannounced) disruptions.

My thanks to Mayor Priest, Cary Roe and others at City Hall who are truly dedicated to the success of our community. Hopefully this letter will help prove the Federal Way is in fact a business-friendly city.

Matthew Jarvis, Federal Way
