I’m sure this will be a most unpopular suggestion, since almost everybody would prefer to get something for nothing rather than having to put out some considerably unpleasant effort.

I raised five children using cloth diapers and it didn’t hurt them a bit — although it did make everyday life a lot harder to deal with. It can be done, as many other ladies of my generation can attest. Nobody said it would be fun, but in view of the shortage of funds (to buy diapers and food for low-income families in Federal Way), it would seem to me an inconvenience that moms will have to put up with, especially if they expect other people to foot their bill.

That way, we only have to buy each mom a couple of dozen diapers once, and they can be washed and reused again and again for free.

It will also keep from adding non-biodegradable materials to landfills.
