Light rail hostages in Federal Way | Letters

I believe Federal Way is being held hostage when it comes to the continuing Sound Transit light rail project. This project has been a nightmare. The taxpayers have been promised a pony and have received a goat.

I have sent emails to Sen. Patty Murray and Rep. Adam Smith asking for them to become fully engaged with the Federal Way City Council and come up with solutions. I believe the only solution is for us to get the transit system we voted for in the mid-1990s and have it now. It is insane that Sound Transit is planning on completing the Federal Way connection in the year 2040, which of course will be at a price at least twice what is today.

I have suggested to Murray and Smith they seek federal funding as a jobs creation project and as Larry the Cable Guy would say, “get ‘er done” and done now. My request to each resident of each municipality involved in this project is to write their representatives in Washington, D.C., as well as their respective city, and also send a letter to Sound Transit.

Sound Transit needs to stop the insanity and finish what the voters originally voted for or give back the money they have collected.
