I have a beef about the way the first item in the May 11 police blotter was written. It was about a woman seeing a man masturbating in a car in public. The woman called 911. My problem is the last sentence, which says “The report did not mention whether the man was also texting.”

Really? Is this funny? How about an item about the rape of a woman and the last sentence asking if the man was wearing boxers or briefs? That is the equivalent insensitive comment.

I don’t know who writes these police blotters — the newspaper or the police. Was this wording that the police department used in its report? If so, I have an even bigger beef with them.

Editor’s note: The police are innocent in this situation.
