The Republican lie machine | Federal Way letters
Recently, I have received two anti-Tracey Eide fliers in the mail and I simply cannot believe both Tony Moore and the Republican Party. Each of these fliers use the same old scare tactics that Republicans are famous for. First, each of these fliers claim that Sen. Eide has "failed" our education system and our children. Nothing could be further from the truth. Mrs. Eide has always supported schools as proven by the passage of the simple majority for school bonds. These fliers continue the demagoguery by claiming that "our math curriculum was thrown away because it was no good." Give me a break! The state funding issue goes back to the 1970s...long before Sen. Eide was fighting for our schools.
Furthermore, state senators have no control over district curriculum. This is an issue that is directly aligned with district school boards, and since Tony Moore is on the Federal Way School Board (the President of the current board), why hasn't he done something about the "no good" math curriculum rather than blame Mrs. Eide? The use of degrading and inappropriate photographs on each of these fliers is shameful. One photo has a young, sad looking child staring into the camera, while the other has an obviously unauthorized, secretive and altered photo of Sen. Eide. Mr. Moore, you should be ashamed of yourself! If this were your wife, mother or daughter, how would you feel? I, for one, am calling you out on this and am outraged. It is obvious that the Washington State Republican Party and Tony Moore have no solutions of their own and have to resort to lies and attack ads. This is apparent on Mr. Moore's own campaign signs: "No Tax Increases, Less Waste, More for Schools." Please Mr. Moore...tell us, what does "less waste" really mean? In this economy, I am sure that Mr. Moore will be able to secure so much money for schools. It must be easy to sit back and attack Sen. Eide while hiding behind your baseless rhetoric. "More for Schools," I have yet to hear his detailed plan to secure more funds for our schools. Times are tough and talk is cheap.
I have a direct challenge to Tony Moore and the Washington State Republican Party. Would you lie to your family? Would you lie to your church? Would you lie to yourself? Would you lie to the children in the Federal Way School District? Your fliers do just this. They lie. Stop lying to the public. The public is tired of the usual politics. Mr. Moore, give us your "plan," be specific, and please...stop lying.
