Re-elect Adam Smith for U.S. Congress | Mirror editorial
October 24, 2008 · 3:19 PM
The Mirror recommends re-electing U.S. Congressman Adam Smith to another term.
Smith, a Democrat, has distinguished himself over the past six terms as a representative for the people. The 9th District, which includes Federal Way, benefits from Smith’s more centrist leanings, bipartisan tendencies, cool temperament and intelligence.
Republican challenger James Postma of Steilacoom is weak on credentials and has not presented a valid case for replacing Smith.
Smith’s recent appearance at a Federal Way Chamber luncheon to discuss the economic crisis, as well as its uncertainties, highlighted his forward-thinking approach. Smith is also on the U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee and serves as chairman of the House Armed Services terrorism subcommittee — two connections that benefit the military bases in Smith’s district.
Vote for Smith and retain his representation for the 9th District.
