Sidney Cox

Sidney F. Cox passed away at St. Francis Hospital on Tuesday, December 4th at the age of 91. Husband, father, grandfather, step-grandfather, engineer and craftsman, he was born in Portland, Oregon on February 11, 1921 to Frank and Zelia Cox. Sid moved to the Seattle area as a young man to work for Boeing during World War II. After the war he attended the University of Washington, earning his degree in mechanical engineering while working at Boeing. He retired from Boeing in 1986.

Sid married Joyce Annette Reehling in 1947. They resided in Bellevue where they raised their children, instilling in them his love of snow skiing and learning. After divorcing in the 1970s, Sid married Mary Jane Hartman in 1981 and they enjoyed 19 happy years together.

Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane, and his sister Ardith Cox Rynning and her husband Joel, Sid is survived by his four children, Jeffrey (Debra), Gregory (Kathy), Patricia (Marla), and Carol, two stepchildren, and ten grandchildren and step-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 21st at 2:00 pm at Genesis Global Spiritual Center, 233 South 156th Street, Burien, WA 98148. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South King Firefighters Foundation, 31617 1st Avenue South, Federal Way, WA 98003.
