Suspect flees after armed robbery at Federal Way gas station

Man entered the store, used a handgun and then fled.

Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:

March 11

Business break-in: At 2 a.m. near the 2100 block of SW 336th St., an unknown suspect broke the window of the business at the listed location and stole $1,000 worth of liquor.

Business break-in: At 2:28 a.m. near the 33500 block of 21st Ave. SW, officers responded to a commercial alarm at AutoZone. An unknown suspect used a brick to break the glass covering the front door. The door was still locked and no entry was made. There is no surveillance at this time, and no leads. The responding manager said she could get video from the corporate office.

Tagging: At 7:36 a.m. near the 1400 block of S. 324th St., a witness/victim was driving through a parking lot at the listed location when they saw a suspect “tagging” a pillar with spray paint. The suspect then fled the area, yelling “sorry.” Police could not locate the subject.

Stolen vehicle: At 1:16 p.m. near 34000 1st Ave. S., officers conducted a high-risk stop on a driver in a stolen vehicle. After the suspect was detained by officers, he said he purchased the vehicle from his friend and had documentation to prove this. According to the report, the suspect also had a warrant for his arrest. He was booked into SCORE jail on the warrant and the vehicle was impounded.

March 13

Stalking and harassing: At 10:04 a.m. near the 200 block of SW 319th Lane, the victim reported someone had slashed their car tires. The victim said he believed it may have been his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend. The victim said his girlfriend’s ex has been stalking and harassing her. He allegedly broke her apartment window. The ex is currently a person of interest, but there is no video surveillance or witnesses to the crime.

Hit and run: At 6:50 p.m. near the 27800 block of Pacific Highway S., a victim reported she was rear-ended and the suspect fled afterwards. The victim said the damage to her vehicle was minor, but she was able to provide officers with a description of the other vehicle and the licence plate. After a DOL check, the listed driver came back as an elderly man. The victim said the male driving the vehicle did not match that description, as he was about 30 years of age.

False accusation: At 8:09 p.m. at a 7-11 location near the 32900 block of 1st Ave. S., an officer responded to a 911 call of a women yelling and screaming accusations at the reporting party, a store employee. Upon police arrival the woman stated the employee had touched her 7-year-old-daughter’s shoulder and asked her if she wanted to come home with him. The employee denied the allegations. After reviewing video footage, the officer saw that the male employee never approached or touched the girl. The reporting officer determined no crime had been committed.

March 15

Stolen faucets: At 9:55 a.m. near the 34500 block of 21st Ave. SW, a store employee for a business at the listed located called 911 and advised he witnessed two suspects remove four kitchen faucets and miscellaneous items from a display and exited the store without attempting to pay. The suspects left through the rear door of the business and fled in a vehicle toward South 356th Street. The listed vehicle is registered in Lakewood. The employee could only provide an estimated list of stolen items, but would provide a more detailed list at a later date.

Longtime abandoned vehicle: At 11:29 a.m. near the 2500 block of S. 302nd Place, an unoccupied vehicle was found after a neighborhood complaint. The vehicle had mold inside the cab and has been sitting in the same location for months according to neighbors. The vehicle was tagged with a 24 hour move notice and was not moved, so it will be impounded as abandoned.

Armed robbery: At 9:53 p.m. at the Walmart of 314th Street, officers responded to a robbery with a gun. The male victim had been charging his phone outside the store when a juvenile suspect had stolen the phone and accessories from his lap. The victim pursued the suspect but an older male suspect pulled a firearm on the victim. Officers were able to locate and detain all parties involved and return the victim’s equipment to him. The firearm was a realistic Airsoft gun. Both suspects were transported to SCORE and a juvenile facility, respectively.

March 16

Lewd conduct: At 9:20 a.m. near the 2100 block of SW 320th St., officers responded to a call of lewd conduct on a Metro bus. A female victim had told the bus driver a male had exposed himself to her. When police arrived, the female advised the man had grabbed his crotch, making her uncomfortable, but did not remove his clothing or expose his genitals to her. The male suspect had exited the vehicle before police arrival. The female was advised to call 911 if the suspect approached her in that way again, and this report was taken only for information.

Wife arrested for assault: At 12:56 p.m. near the 31000 block of 16th Place SW, police responded to a domestic violence call between a husband and wife. Upon officer arrival, it was evident the husband was assaulted by the wife due to injuries to his face. The wife was arrested and transported to SCORE for assault.

Drug complaint: At 9:30 p.m. at the Rite-Aid near the 32000 block of Pacific Highway S., officers responded to a drug complaint. According to employees, a women had entered the store and stole two cans of compressed air before fleeing on foot. When officers were able to contact her later she was actively inhaling the compressed air. She was arrested, issued a citation, and released.

March 17

Drunk driver near hits officer: At 2:44 a.m. near the 27000 block of Pacific Highway S., a driver nearly hit the reporting officer in their cruiser at the listed location. The officer subsequently arrested the driver for DUI and was booked into SCORE jail.

Armed robbery: At 10:40 p.m. at a 76 Station near the 2100 block of SW 356th St., officers responded to a robbery with a gun call. According to reports, a male entered the store, used a handgun and then fled.
