The following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:

Child reports abuse: At 12:55 p.m. June 20 in the 3000 block of Southwest 336th Place, officers were dispatched to Brigadoon Elementary regarding reports of child abuse. They interviewed the child, who had visible injuries consistent with his report. Child Protective Services took protective custody of the child.

Suspect arrested for dumpster drugs: At 3:36 a.m. June 20 in the 2200 block of South 320th Street, a police officer arrested a person for drug possession after they saw the subject walk out from behind a dumpster at an Arco AMPM. The officer went behind the dumpster and found baggies of methamphetamine where the person was standing.

Friendships don’t always last forever: At 7:17 a.m. June 20 in the 100 block of South 332nd Place, a woman stated a friend who had been staying with her for the past few days attacked her because she had been at the casino. The victim who called police sustained a scratch to her left arm. The victim did not want the friend prosecuted.

Prowler fails to cover tracks: At 1:51 a.m. June 20 in the 3000 block of South 288th Street, a woman called police after finding muddy footprints insider her kitchen that were not previously there the last time she was in the kitchen. Officers did not find any forced entry points, but the woman said the stick she used to lock a window was shifted but not removed.

Burglar lets nerves get the better of him: At 12:29 p.m. June 19 in the 4000 block of South 332nd Place, neighbors confronted a suspicious group of juveniles walking down the road with a garbage can. One of the juveniles removed a bag of guns from the garbage can and tried to run but tripped and left the guns. Multiple firearms recovered. The victim eventually called to report the burglary.

Woman assaulted at Jack in the Box: At 10:20 a.m. June 19 in the 31000 block of Pacific Highway South, officers responded to a report of a dispute between a male and female at the Jack in the Box. Police were told the male kneed the woman in the side of the head and fled prior to police arrival. The woman sustained minor injuries, and police were unable to locate the suspect.

Man robbed at gunpoint while on date: At 4:27 a.m. June 18 in the 30800 block of 18th Avenue South, a man told police he was in his vehicle with a woman he had recently met on a dating website when they were robbed at gunpoint by two men wearing all black. The men had on black bandanas and pointed a small black handgun. The suspects took the victim’s phone, wallet and vehicle. Police are actively investigating the case.

Woman with infant assaulted by boyfriend: At 11:24 a.m. June 18 in the 29000 block of 17th Place South, a man cut his girlfriend’s arm during an argument. The victim was holding their infant during the assault. The suspect left before police arrived, and they couldn’t find him in their search of the area.

Suspect has more than a drug problem: At 7:11 a.m. June 17 in the 1500 block of South 328th Street, Econo Lodge management alerted police they’d like a woman trespassed from their hotel because they believed she was doing drugs in one of their rooms. Before police trespassed her, they got her name and learned she had a $500 warrant for first-degree negligent driving. She was arrested and booked into SCORE jail.

Kids trespassed for smoking marijuana: At 8:37 a.m. June 17 in the 2600 block of Southwest 327th Street, police were dispatched to help Federal Way Public Schools’ security officers to trespass four juveniles from Olympic Elementary. The minors were caught smoking marijuana on the school’s campus.

Displaced woman committed: At 11:19 a.m. June 16 in the 29800 block of Pacific Highway South, a woman was involuntarily committed after she was found in her hotel room with only a T-shirt on. She was taken to the hospital after police deemed her to be a “threat to herself to become gravely disabled if she was left alone due to her being under the influence for alcohol and or drugs to the point that she couldn’t stand up.” Once at the hospital, doctors performed a rape kit on her, which is not complete at this time.

Man with multiple knives scares uncle: At 2:55 p.m. June 16 in the 2000 block of Southwest 318th Place, officers responded to a domestic dispute. During their investigation, they discovered a male brandished two knives and lunged at his uncle. The suspect was arrested on second-degree assault with a domestic violence provision.

Hit and run yields a guilty conscience: At 5:39 p.m. June 15 in the 32000 block of 23rd Avenue South, a diver hit another car near the entrance of the mall parking lot. Initially, the car at fault pulled into the mall parking lot, but according to witnesses, the driver later fled into the mall. After police did a search of the area, they were unable to locate the suspect. However, later that night, the suspect turned himself in at the Federal Way Police station.
