The following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:
Teens bully man at park and ride: At 10:30 a.m. July 12 at the park and ride at 27454 Pacific Highway S., a man reported an unknown teenager would not let him walk down the stairs into the Club Palisades complex. When he tried to walk past the suspect, he was grabbed and pushed against the railing. Another person yelled at the suspect and some of his friends, who subsequently ran away. The victim said he was not injured, just “shaken up.”
Man loses $500 in scam: At 2:21 p.m. July 12 in the 2500 block of South 286th Place, a person reported he was scammed out of $500 from a bogus online loan company called First Cash USA. The man reported the scammer deposited $500 into the victim’s account and then told him to buy iTunes gift cards and send back the card codes, which the victim did. He later learned from his bank that he was scammed and owed the bank $500.
Suspect arrested at taser point: At 3:24 a.m. July 11 in the 35000 block of 21st Avenue Southwest, an officer made a traffic stop after the person driving was reported to have warrants for driving without a license. During the stop, the suspect attempted to walk away from the car. He was detained at taser point until other officers arrived. The suspect was then arrested and transported to SCORE jail.
Good deed goes punished: At 2:53 p.m. July 11 in the 34000 block of Pacific Highway South a person reported they had given a homeless person $50, with the assumption the man would buy a snack and return the change. After taking the bill, the homeless person took off with it. The victim chased after the man but could not catch him.
Bullet found in residence wall: At 3:43 p.m. July 11 in the 2500 block of South 288th Street, an officer responded to the location after a victim located a bullet and a hole in her wall. No one was injured.
Aggressive argument stopped by officer: At 5:13 p.m. July 11 in the 32000 block of Pacific Highway South, an officer driving southbound noticed a male and female in a heated argument. The officer then saw the male grab the female by the shoulders and turn her around aggressively before the pair started walking northbound. When the officer contacted the couple, they denied any physical altercation and stated they were arguing over not having enough water and being homeless.
Copper stolen from school: At 9:03 a.m. July 10 in the 3400 block of 12th Avenue Southwest, a school district maintenance worker reported some copper electrical wire was cut from a portable classroom. The wire was cut from a conduit on the outside of the building. The area was obstructed from view of any surveillance cameras.
Repeat shoplifter arrested stealing booze: At 1:55 p.m. July 10 in the 33000 block of 21st Avenue Southwest, a chronic shoplifter who had been caught 14 times this year was caught again stealing approximately $224 in alcohol and other merchandise. The person was also booked for trespassing.
Male robbed during pot sale: At 11:52 p.m. July 10 in the 2000 block of South 320th Street, a victim reported being assaulted while attempting to buy marijuana from two people near the Master Hair Care Wig Shop. The suspects punched the victim in the head and face repeatedly and took $5 from him before fleeing on foot. The victim was taken to St. Francis Hospital for further evaluation.
Man released after warrant misunderstanding: At 11:47 p.m. July 10 in the 33000 block of Pacific Highway South, an officer contacted a black male, who identified himself to the officer. The officer checked the man’s background and located his name and a warrant out of Federal Way Police Department. After the man was taken into custody, police determined he was not the man on the warrant because the birth dates and photographs were different. The man was then released from custody.
Marchers protest gas line and orca retirement: At 11:43 a.m. July 9, a concerned resident reported a large crowd, possibly protesters, at the gas station at the corner of Pacific Highway South and South Dash Point Road. An officer spoke to one of the men in the group of approximately 50 people. He said they were walking to Tacoma to peacefully protest the natural gas line facility being built and advocate for the retirement of the orca Lolita in her Pacific Northwest habitat after 47 years of captivity on the East Coast. The protesters were peaceful and cooperative and advised police they would obey traffic rules.
Pregnant woman assaulted: At 4:33 p.m. July 9 in the 35000 block of 25th Avenue Southwest, an officer responded to a report of domestic violence. The victim reported her boyfriend smashed the screen of her phone and pushed her down, causing her to hurt her wrist. She also said she is 23 weeks pregnant with his child. The man was arrested on various domestic violence charges, as well as a Federal Way warrant for DUI.
Gun fired during argument: At 7:04 p.m. July 9 in the 2000 block of South 320th Street, two men were observed arguing, and one was seen discharging a handgun and pointing it at another man. The suspect and victim left before police arrived. Multiple witnesses gave statements to police.
Person threatened by man in Santa hat: At 2:35 p.m. July 8 in the 32000 block of Pacific Highway South, a victim called police to report a male had male sexual comments to her and threatened to hit her with a fire extinguisher if she did not get off his street corner. The victim was working for a nearby business and displaying an advertisement. The victim said the male ran off when she told him she was calling police. She declined to make a report but asked officers to watch for the man, who was described as being white, with a medium build, about 5 feet, 11 inches tall, with a beard and wearing a Santa hat, yellow shirt and blue shorts.
Nude woman found on school property: At 4:51 p.m. July 8, an officer contacted a nude woman near the playground at Twin Lakes Elementary. The woman was sitting on the grass and writing on her legs with a pen. The woman gave inappropriate answers to the officer, who believed she was on drugs or had mental health problems or both. She was involuntarily committed to a hospital.
Person arrested for strangling victim: At 9:35 p.m. July 8 in the 1000 block of South 314th Street, officers responded to the location regarding a verbal argument in process. When they arrived, they saw the suspect and victim fighting in the back of a vehicle and determined there was probable cause to arrest the suspect for second-degree assault-strangulation. The person was booked into SCORE Jail.
Snitches get eggs: At 6:35 a.m. July 7 in the 32000 block of 37th Place South, a victim reported their car had been egged that evening. The victim told officers they believed their neighbors did it because the victim confronted their neighbor about post-Fourth of July fireworks and their children’s recent behavior.
Won’t you be my neighbor: At 12:07 a.m. July 7 in the 33000 block of 17th Place South, police were called after two neighbors accused one another of threatening to shoot the other. The reporting neighbor called for help after becoming convinced the two were serious because of some underlying domestic issues. Officers determined no crime had occurred.
