A man who died from a gunshot wound in a home invasion robbery was dropped off at Club Palisades Apartment in Federal Way last night, police said.

Cathy Schrock, a spokeswoman with the Federal Way Police Department, said it appears the man was shot during a home invasion robbery in Lakewood and was “dumped” by his associates at the apartments at around 11 p.m.

The apartments are located in the 2200 block of S. Star Lake Road in Federal Way.

Police initially received reports that a witness heard gunshots, looked outside and saw a person fall to the ground before a vehicle drove away.

The man, approximately 20 years old, received immediate aid from officers after they arrived but was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the man will be released after a medical examiner’s autopsy is complete.

Lakewood Police say they suspect the man dumped in the parking lot may be one of the suspects from a home invasion robbery that occurred in Lakewood around 9:34 p.m. that same night. Lakewood police responded to a 911 call claiming a home invasion robbery occurred and shots were fired at a house in the 11000 block of Briar Road Southwest.

The victims reported three unknown black males knocked on their door and forced their way into the home. One of the males had a handgun and another carried a knife. The husband was hit on the head with the gun and the wife was cut on the hand by the knife. They were then tied up as the suspects searched the house for valuables, according to a Lakewood Police report.

When the suspects stepped outside, the husband freed himself and his wife and they shut the door, just as the suspects were returning. The suspects fired a shot into the door and began forcing their way back in. The victims retreated to a back bedroom in the residence for safety.

The suspects got back into the house and came into the bedroom. The husband armed himself with a handgun and fired two shots at the suspects as they came into his room.

Lakewood police reported evidence at the scene suggesting that one of the suspects may have been hit by the gunfire. The suspects fled the residence shortly after.

The husband received medical treatment for lacerations to his head and the wife received care for cuts to her hand. The victims described the suspects as three black males, approximately 5 feet 10 inches, medium build, wearing dark clothing, knit caps and some type of masks covering their faces.

Major crimes detectives and forensics responded to the scene to conduct an investigation.
