Food donations needed for Summer Meals program

Items can be dropped off at various businesses throughout May

Summer means less access to food for many children. It’s also a time when food bank resources are low.

Bring non-perishable food donations to one of the following Federal Way businesses during the month of May to help hungry children this summer: Coldwell Banker Danforth, 33313 First Way S.; Curves, 2316 SW 336th St., Fitness 19, 33702 21st Ave. SW; Homestreet Bank, 33525 Pacific Highway S., Suite A; Sparks Care Care, 32627 Pacific Highway S.; Sub Zero Nitrogen Ice Cream, 31653 Pacific Highway S., Suite A; and Willamette Dental, 181 S. 333rd St., Suite C100. Food donations may also be brought to the food bank, 1200 S. 336th St. Donations are accepted at the food bank from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Suggested Summer Meals food donations include: fruit cups, jelly/jam, snack crackers, canned meat/fish, juice boxes (100-percent juice), peanut butter, sunflower seeds, bags of nuts (peanuts, almonds, etc.), ranch dressing, mayonnaise, graham crackers, granola bars, paper lunch bags, napkins and plastic utensils.

MSC’s Federal Way Food Bank provides food for more than 3,800 households in the Federal Way School District each year. Thirty-seven percent of those served are 17 years old or younger. Each summer, MSC provides more than 17,000 meals and snacks to students. Learn more about MSC at www.mschelps.org.
