Federal Way police seek information in Renton woman’s death

Federal Way police are seeking the public’s help to find out what led to a 27-year-old Renton woman’s body being left outside of St. Francis Hospital on Oct. 25.

Crystal Hawkins died of a gunshot wound to the head. Hospital staff discovered her lying on the ground bleeding near the hospital’s main entrance. A witness reported hearing a nondescript vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed around the time Hawkins was found.

Hawkins lived with her mother, Federal Way police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock said.

“What we know is that Crystal left the house somewhere between 1 and 3 a.m. based on what her mom could piece together and the last time she spoke with her,” Schrock said in an email. “She was found dumped just before 4 am. Crystal’s car is a 2005 Volvo XC. It’s black in color.

“We know that she left with that car from Renton, and although we’re not sure whether or not she was in that car when she was dumped, it was later recovered.

“We just don’t have any leads and we’d like the public’s help to see if her friends, family, associates or anybody might have seen her car or her (at) that time (on) Oct. 25.”

Anyone with information should contact the Federal Way Police Department at safecityfw.com or by calling 253-835-2121.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 cash reward to anyone with information that leads to an arrest in the case. Call the hot line at 1-800-222-8477 to be eligible for the reward.
