Federal Way police looking for Umpqua Bank robber

The suspect is described as a white male, 30-35 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches

Federal Way police are searching for a man who robbed Umpqua Bank last Friday.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 30-35 years old, standing approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and with a thin-to-medium build. At the time of the robbery, the suspect had a light-brown, thin, scruffy beard and was wearing sunglasses, a black hooded sweatshirt, blue-and-grey gloves and a blue hat.

The manager of the bank, which is located at 33650 21st Ave. SW in Federal Way, told police the suspect walked toward an employee who asked him to remove his hood. The man shook his head and moved his hand across his throat, which the employee told police she understood to mean “no” and “stop talking.”

The suspect put a note on the counter; the employee told police she did not read the entire note but saw the words “mouths to feed” and saw the man pointing towards the cash drawer. She gave the man the cash in the drawer and he walked out of the bank.

The bank manager activated the bank’s alarm after seeing the man take money from the counter.

Police conducted a K-9 track in the area but called it off after about 30 minutes. No one witnessed the suspect get into a vehicle or saw where he went after leaving the bank.
