Federal Way Performing Arts Foundation to fundraise for Arts 4 Youth

The Federal Way Coalition of the Performing Arts is transitioning from its primary purpose of securing funds for the construction of the Performing Arts and Event Center in Federal Way to one of raising funds that supports ongoing programs inside the performing arts center.

For its first year, the foundation has chosen raise money for the Arts 4 Youth program.

The coalition surpassed its capital campaign goal by raising over $1,000,000 for the Performing Arts and Event Center’s construction. The organization will remain a 501(c)3 nonprofit under the new name of the Federal Way Performing Arts Foundation. Its mission continues to advance, enhance and enrich performing arts in our community.

The foundation’s priority will be to create a scholarship and bus fund for Arts 4 Youth. This program will allow more than 10,000 youth in South King County K-12 classes to attend and learn from world-class performances at the performing arts center that correspond with hands-on classroom learning before or after the event.

For just $5 per ticket, Arts 4 Youth programming supports statewide CORE curriculum standards, and is designed to encourage experienced-based memories that are intended to cultivate inspiration, ingenuity, and a life-long appreciation of the arts. The following are the performances provided during the 2017-18 season:

• Ambiguous Dance Company

• Ada’s Violin (Book It Theater)

• Golden Dragon Acrobats

• Treasure Island (Panto Theater USA)

• Velveteen Rabbit Reborn (PushCart Players)

The Federal Way Performing Arts Foundation said they look forward to ensuring that the Performing Arts and Event Center is regarded as a dynamic regional destination anchoring the city center with high quality programs, exceptional service for all and arts education for youth in our community.
