Federal Way man charged with attempted child rape

On April 5, Federal Way resident Tilden Laverne Lester Jr., 50, was charged with second-degree attempted child rape and possession of depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

On March 25, an undercover Seattle police detective, using a screen name similar to “incest is natural,” entered an online user-created chat room. The officer claimed to have an 11-year-old and a 13-year-old daughter. An individual, going by the screen name “DrPeddelDfile,” instant-messaged the officer and inquired about the young girls, according to charging documents. The suspect was later identified as Lester.

During the first of many conversations, Lester revealed he began having sex with one of his female relatives when she was 13, and continued the act for seven years, according to charging papers. Lester became excited when the undercover detective said he sometimes allowed other men to engage in sex with his daughters, according to the papers. Lester also shared he was aroused by teaching and watching young girls have sex with dogs.

Lester told the officer he would meet and share 15 years worth of child pornography if the man allowed Lester to have sexual relations with his daughters. According to charging papers, the two men met March 26 at a Federal Way restaurant. There, Lester transferred 20 gigabytes of mostly child porn to the detective’s laptop.

In later instant message conversations, Lester asked when he could engage in sexual acts with the two young girls. He also set up a meeting time and place in Tukwila for the undercover detective to deliver his daughters to Lester. Upon arrival at the Tukwila location April 1, Lester was arrested without incident.

Lester is being held on $150,000 bail. He will be arraigned April 19.
