Federal Way house fire caused by arson

The house was abandoned, SKFR confirms.

King County fire investigators determine arson was the cause of a heavily involved house fire on Thursday morning.

South King Fire and Rescue crews responded to the call of a residential fire at 33214 33rd Ave SW in Federal Way around 1:30 a.m.

The house was abandoned and there were no injuries or fatalities, said SKFR public information officer Lt. Brad Chaney.

There was structural collapse on one side of the building, Chaney said, which combined with the densely overgrown yard surrounding the house, posed challenging access issues for SKFR firefighters.
