Flygare seeks Park's seat on Federal Way City Council

Roger Flygare is running for Federal Way City Council position 3. He will hold a fundraiser at 6 p.m. March 28 at Poverty Bay Coffee, 1108 S. 322nd Place.

In 2010, Flygare filed to run for a vacant District 30 state representative seat, but pulled out of the race before the primary election. A website with campaign information is coming soon, he said.

The city council position 3 is currently held by Mike Park, who was appointed to the position in 1995. On Thursday, Park told The Mirror he would announce his intentions in April, and that he was leaning toward running again. Park has been re-elected in 1995, 1999, 2003 and 2007. In 2010, Park was a candidate for Federal Way's first elected mayor and finished fourth in the August primary with 17.8 percent of the vote.

Councilman Jack Dovey (position 5) is also up for re-election. He has confirmed he plans to run, and will make an official announcement soon. Deputy Mayor Dini Duclos, who was elected to position 7 in 2007, kicked off her campaign on March 15.

Councilman Jim Ferrell (position 1) is up for re-election. His plans could not be confirmed as of this posting. In November 2010, Ferrell finished second in the race to become Federal Way's first elected mayor.
