South King Fire and Rescue beat the Coast Guard to the scene Wednesday night.

A call went out around 7:15 p.m. March 31 for a boating accident after a report from shore of a boat in distress, mid-channel between Redondo and Des Moines. The boat was overturned and people were in the water.

Marine 26, SKFR's boat, arrived on scene within 15 minutes and saw four adults in life jackets clinging to the hull of an overturned 25 foot power boat, spokeswoman Donna Conner said. There were two males and two females in their 30s. All were pulled from the water, taken to shore and treated for mild hypothermia before being released. They refused any further treatment, Conner said. The cause was a problem with their boat plug, which let in so much water that the boat overturned, Conner said.
