The Federal Way Police Department is conducting an investigation of a police-involved shooting in Des Moines.
At 2:40 p.m. Dec. 19 in the 27000 block of 15th Avenue South, a victim reported her boyfriend argued with her, then pointed a gun at her before fleeing her residence on foot. The victim produced a description of the suspect.
He was found by Des Moines police walking near South 272nd Street and Pacific Highway South, near the Des Moines/Federal Way boundary. Des Moines officers contacted the suspect, who refused to comply with their orders.
The suspect produced a handgun. The Des Moines officers shot at the suspect, killing him. The two officers were not injured.
They are on administrative leave, pending Federal Way's investigation. One officer has 17 years experience as an officer. The other officer involved has approximately three years experience.
