Federal Way hires consultant to search for new city manager

On Aug. 4, the city council approved hiring Seattle-based Prothman Company to conduct the search for a new city manager.

Federal Way will pay the consultant $22,500 for its services. An additional $6,180 may be spent on expenses as well as business and operation taxes. If site visits are required, those could cost up to $1,500 each. The city tentatively plans to hold final interviews for candidates on Dec. 14.

The city council is currently seeking citizens to serve on a board that will help identify favorable qualities in a Federal Way city manager. Citizen interviews of the candidates are scheduled for the week beginning Aug. 24. To submit your name to become involved with the board or learn more, contact Mary McDougal at mary.mcdougal@cityoffederalway.com by 5 p.m. Aug. 12.
