Adan Rodriguez Sarinana, 21, accused of stabbing and killing his roommate on June 3, pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder June 17.

Rodriguez Sarinana allegedly stabbed his 24-year-old roommate, Jose Alfredo Jimenez Lara, approximately 10 times. Jimenez Lara was seen trying to flee the violence. Witnesses allegedly saw Rodriguez Sarinana pursue the victim, after he had been stabbed, and drag him back into the men's apartment, according to court documents.

Rodriguez Sarinana then rolled Jimenez Lara in a carpet inside the apartment at Cascade Ridge Apartments, 1900 S.W. Campus Drive, where the victim died, according to the documents.

No specific reason for the slaying is apparent in court documents. Rodriguez Sarinana is being held on $1 million bail and is scheduled in court July 9.
