A former employee of the Federal Way Municipal Court filed a claim for damages against the city and court.

Colleen Roque, a former court services supervisor, filed a claim Feb. 5 for damages in the sum of $500,000, according to a document provided by the city. Roque filed the claim "for damages sustained because of tortious conduct" by the city and court.

Roque was hired in April 2008, was placed on administrative leave on Nov. 22, and was terminated as an employee on Jan. 28, 2009, according to the claim.

"This is a claim, not an official lawsuit. 60 days have to elapse before Roque can file a lawsuit, if that is her intent. We are in the process of evaluating the claim," city spokeswoman Linda Farmer said in an e-mail.
