Blood donations are needed to revitalize Western Washington's supply. The recent snow and ice storms caused Puget Sound Blood Centers to cancel 15 blood drives, amounting to approximately 1,000 blood and 50 platelet donations lost.

Expected inclement weather and upcoming holidays have the center braced to lose more donations, according to PSBC spokesman Michael Young.

Residents are urged to help fill the 900 donations per day needed to maintain operations. One may donate Dec. 19-31 at any of 11 donation centers. To make an appointment or learn more, call (800) 398-7888 or visit www.psbc.org.

The Federal Way center is located at 1414 S. 324th St., Suite B-101.
