Federal Way father pleads guilty to infant's fire pit death

Alberto Rios, the Federal Way father of a 7-month-old infant found dead in a backyard fire pit June 21, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder Tuesday.

Rios first filed a not-guilty plea July 9 on the advice of his lawyers. He is scheduled for sentencing on Oct. 3. Attorneys for Rios are asking he serve 21 months. Prosecutors are asking for a 27-month sentence.

Rios, is residing in the United States illegally and was told Monday he will be deported. He was previously deported from the country three times, the last time being in 2001.
