More than 1,000 celebrate new downtown Federal Way park | Slideshow

More than 1,000 residents attended the grand opening of Town Square Park — Federal Way’s first downtown park — on Saturday afternoon.

Mayor Jim Ferrell and Council members kicked off the festivities with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Community Center staff led kids' activities, including face painting, tug-o-war, bubble blowing and water balloon tossing.

Town Square Park is located across the street from the Transit Center, at 31600 20th Ave. S.
