From staff reports:
The city expects to reach a milestone in the construction project at SW 336th Street and 21st Avenue SW.
Crews will re-stripe the intersection and restore left-turn lanes and normal signalization, according to the city. The work is scheduled to last between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, and is weather dependent.
Federal Way police officers will direct traffic through the intersection during Thursday's re-striping. Drivers should expect delays and are advised to take alternate routes if possible.
After Thursday, construction on the intersection will be about 75 percent complete. Drivers can expect better traffic flow and reduced backups, the city reports.
Currently, the signals are operating so that traffic flows through the intersection in only one direction at a time. Thursday’s work will restore the “protected left-turns,” which will allow both directions of straight travel to move at the same time, the city reports.
Construction on this intersection began in May, with completion planned for Dec. 2013. To learn more, click here.
