Mirror editor leaving

After four years as editor, Pat Jenkins is leaving the Mirror this week to become the editor of a group of community newspapers in the south King County and Bellevue areas.

His final day with the Mirror will be Friday. His successor hasn’t been named.

Jenkins will join King County Journal Newspapers’ group of community publications, all named the Reporter, in Auburn, Kent, Renton, Covington, Bellevue, Bothell, Redmond and Maple Valley. He’ll head their editorial departments.

The Reporter newspapers, combined with three other papers published by the company, including the daily King County Journal, reach approximately 250,000 households.

Jenkins joined the Mirror in February 2002 after spending the previous two years as editor of The Garden Island, a daily newspaper in Lihue, Hawaii.

“I’m grateful for the support the Mirror has received from our public. And it’s been a rewarding experience working with the community and this paper’s staff,” he said.
