Gunshots at restaurant; no injuries

A man was arrested early Tuesday morning after he fired several shots from a gun into the ceiling of a restaurant while police officers were inside.

At about 12:30 a.m., Federal Way Police were called to Cafe Seattle at 31140 Pacific Hwy. S. following a disturbance involving several patrons, officials said.

While officers were investigating, one of the men involved in the incident returned shortly after 1:15 a.m. and fired several rounds into the ceiling. Customers were able to escape and no one was injured, according to police.

The nearby intersection of South 312th Street and Pacific Highway South was partially closed during the incident.

At 1:40 a.m., the man exited the restaurant with his weapon, surrendered and was arrested. There was no exchange of gunfire, according to police.

The suspect, whose name wasn't released, is 33 years old. He was booked on suspicion of assault and kidnapping.

More details on what led up to the shooting weren't immediately available.
