Federal Way Police and King County Animal Control are putting the word out to pet owners to keep their critters safe following a rash of mutilations.

Four incidents have been reported since May –– two in August. In all but one case, the victims were cats. A small dog was also mutilated.

Animal Control is investigating the attacks.

Officials said the attacks occurred within a certain area. The animals’ remains were found within South 320th Street to the south, First Way South to the west, Southwest Dash Point Road to the north and Pacific Highway South to the east.

The Police Department on Thursday asked for anyone with information about the incidents to call the criminal investigations section at 835-6734.
