Election counseling coming from Texas

The Mirror

With its past performance one of the hot topics all week in a trial over last year’s race for governor, eyes are starting to turn to the future of King County’s elections system, too.

The Metropolitan King County Council picked two organizations Monday –– one based in Texas, the other from Issaquah –– to jointly conduct a management audit of the department.

Council members said the study will get to the bottom of whether mismanagement contributed to election errors that are blamed in a lawsuit by the Republican Party for a Democrat being elected governor, and how the department might improve.

And the study will be non--political, council members vowed.
