Senator lands more money for third runway

U.S. Sen. Patty Murray announced this week the third runway at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport will receive another $62 million, this time from the Federal Aviation Administration, making the runway project the largest recipient of federal money and the only one to have its federal allocation expanded twice.

Last April, Murray announced she’d secured a $10 million U.S. Department of Transportation grant for noise abatement for nearby buildings and an $11.6 million grant for runway construction. The total federal allocation for the project is now $278.4 million.
