Students stage own opera

Opera came to Brigadoon Elementary School last week in the form of 27 fifth-graders writing, producing and performing their original opera, “Underground Trouble.”

The 30-minute performances April 2-4 were the result of Brigadoon being selected by the Metropolitan Opera Guild Education Department to participate in the Creating Original Opera program.

Students participated in makeup, costumes, lighting, set design, carpentry, writing, composing, stage and production managing, and public relations.
