The Seatac man who died in an automobile collision on Interstate 5 near Seatac Monday morning was identified by the King County medical examiner as Hector Luevano Sanchez.

Sanchez was driving a 1991 Ford Explorer southbound on I-5 when the vehicle struck the jersey barrier on the right side of the freeway and ricocheted back into traffic, where it was struck by a semi-truck, according to the State Patrol.

Sanchez died at the scene.

A passenger in the Explorer, Alvaro Hernandez Garcia, 18, of Kent, was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He remained in critical condition overnight Monday, but has since been upgraded to satisfactory condition.

The driver of the semi, a 50-year-old Centralia man, was not injured, but the truck was totalled, troopers said.
